I find myself wearing my husband’s clothes a lot; I just came in from a run and realized I am peeling off layers of his clothing I did not even remember putting on. I guess it smells like him, and these days that’s a good thing, because now he is away on tour.

It is quiet here in this apartment on the water, the fall air blowing up and into my windows brings a welcomed sense of presence, letting me know I am not at all alone. The night sky is one of the most beautiful I’ve witnessed here in the city and I cannot help but smile at sight of it.

Tonight I decided last minute to take a turn towards the front door, drop my keys at the doorman and go for a jog along the board walk. The scene of the entire city before me as I ran next to the grass and weeping willows blowing in the wind left me speechless, and awestruck by its beauty. I was once again feeling alive, filled with wonder and energy.

Even though I feel quite alone in this big city right now I cannot help but be thankful for the time I have spent in this concrete jungle missing the things my soul longs for like, trees and grass and water. I am also thankful for the answered prayer of just needing to feel more near to nature. I feel like my soul is no longer aching for home, or the place I once called home, the mountains of Tennessee. I have finally realized that God hears every cry of our hearts even if it is just for something as simple as grass and trees.

Inspired by the nature I have been blessed with even in this big city of New York, I want to introduce you to a few new pieces, a way for me to say “thank you” for giving me grass and trees.
